Free Spirit Hi S 200 Rod

Free Spirit set out (some would say foolishly) to produce a rod capable of casting in excess of 200 yards with a baited rig but that had the taper, look and feel of a normal carp rod. The result after extensive research and testing is the Hi-'S' 200.

Possibly the most advanced carbon technology ever to be used on a rod blank. Developed for anglers who require extra casting capability while still maintaining a nice playing action. Discounts are available for multiple purchases.

The Hi-S 200 and the Hi-Sive are the casting tools of the range and will require a good casting technique. The Hi-S 200 was developed with help from Mark Hutchinson and their introduction was well received, but it became apparent that there was a requirement for a rod to bridge the large gap created between the Hi-S 200 and the 3.5lb versions, therefore the Hi-Sive was developed to fill this gap. Both the Hi-S 200 and the Hi-Sive rods are a good choice if distance casting is the main consideration.

When Mark Hutchinson joined the Free Spirit team he came with a reputation of destroying all the carp rods he used – even boasting he could break through the excesses of casting any rod you put in front of him. Even though he has tried repeatedly he has yet to break the 200's. Built from the same 40t Low Resin Carbon as the other Hi-'S' blanks these rods have a crisp, smooth action with no 'snatch' and are still light and slim with a very fast recovery to eliminate tip bounce that cuts down distance.

With the benefit of a comparatively soft tip they are still capable of playing fish with a little care. In the right hands a very formidable specialist tool when the ultimate distance is essential.

Hutchy Build

New for 2021 is the Hi S 200 Hutchy Build which has been designed by casting legend Mark Hutchinson. These rods feature the same striking cosmetics as the rest of the Hi S 200 range, but with the butt ring and other intermediates whipped slightly higher up on the blank, a slightly longer than normal handle for increased casting leverage and a 'Hutch Spec' logo. They also feature a Kigan anti frap tip guide which are notorious for their unique design and durability, making this rod an absolute weapon in the right hands.
